DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC RELATIONS AND CORPORATE COMMUNICATION
Admission Requirements for the Diploma in Public Relations and Corporate Communication
a) The general University admission requirement for a DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC RELATIONS AND CORPORATE COMMUNICATION shall apply.
b) To be legible for admission, applicants satisfy the minimum entry requirements stipulated in the University statutes that are at least C plain grade aggregate in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent.
Or
Any other relevant qualifications from a reputable institution accredited by the Commission for University Education or the Ministry of Education
Duration of Study
i. A full time student (defined as taking full load of between 6 and 8 courses per semester in the duration of the programme) is expected to complete the programme in eight (4) semesters excluding four (4) months industrial attachment.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the students will:
i. Apply communication knowledge in designing public relations programmes.
ii. Effectively articulate to management the changes communication needs in organizations
iii. Become competent communicators in varied situations.
iv. Use language effectively
Course requirements.
Each course unit shall be assessed in two (2) parts, namely coursework (Continuous Assessment) and summative university examinations (End of Semester Examinations).
Examinations for any course are done in the semester the course is offered. The university Grade Point Average system shall apply.
a) Continuous Assessment
A candidate is required to sit for two continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) on all courses registered for in each semester. The continuous assessment will carry 40% of the university examination for the semester.
b) End of Semester Examinations
The end of semester examinations for all course units offered in the semester will be marked out of 60% for each course.
c) Practicals
Practicals are marked out of 20% which constitutes part of the 40% mark awarded for continuous assessment for each course registered for during the semester.
d) Other Assessments
Field work and seminar presentation may be included as part of continuous assessment. In this case the marks awarded are part of the 40% designated for continuous assessment.

Requirements for graduation
A total of 78 credit hours are required for graduation with DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC RELATIONS AND CORPORATE COMMUNICATION. A student must complete and pass in all the core courses of the programme and attain a GPA of 2.00 or above at the end of the programme. Grades on 9 credits of industrial attachments only serve as graduation requirements and are not used in the calculation of the final grade.
